Copper Lamp
2016
Another project for Art Foundation: to design and make a lighting piece. I designed mine based partially on old stage clamshell footlights. The design used sheet copper in a single piece to form a reflector at the back and a "shade" at the front, and an old style filament bulb inside. I had to learn to beat the dish shape into the shade pieces, using a mallet and a hollowed log stump. The base is a heavy piece of turned oak which is drilled out to fit the flex and bulb holder.
